The Australian Physie and Dance Association (APDA) has revolutionised physie as you know it.
APDA was created with the vision to produce a sport that incorporates the fundamentals of Physie and the art of Dance.
Through the dedication and passion of a network of Physie and dance professionals, a contemporary, relevant and transparent platform for our sport was born, benefiting our students’ fitness, strength and flexibility while embracing the movement of dance.
CHOREOGRAPHY
A key driving element of the association is the curriculum we offer to our students. By recruiting many professional dance choreographers each year, APDA can construct exciting and progressive routines whilst following a structure to allow skill progression and coordination as the dancers develop in both age and ability.
TEACHERS
Our teachers play an integral part in ensuring that students are involved in a fun learning experience. By encouraging progression, they can ensure that students perform to the best of their ability; whilst learning fundamental social skills in a friendly environment. Teachers are engaged with APDA throughout the year which provides them with tools and knowledge to help guide students along the way.
COMPETITIONS
APDA offers exciting opportunities to showcase our syllabus. These performances enhance and encourage goal-setting and personal achievements. The students are given the choice of participating in team events to represent their club and individual competitions. With these yearly events, our members learn essential skills such as team building and sportsmanship. APDA prides itself on all local and national competitions being held on the finest Australian stages.
JUDGING SYSTEM
APDA prides itself on the delivery of our unique judging system, created specifically for our sport. Our competition judges consist of both teachers within our association and dance professionals who are well-regarded and highly qualified. Both are required to complete and pass a judging course that tests their ability to spot the correct technique and execution of each routine. Having qualified judges and a judging system created specifically for our sport we can provide the best possible outcome at each competition.

COMMITMENT:
Except for Tiny Tots, all 5yrs-12yrs classes are currently held 1x per week.
It is a goal of Queans Physie & Dance to have enough core members to allow for a second class each week. Stay Tuned!
Classes run with the school terms, right through until the ADPA Qualifiers & APDA Team Competitions that are currently held approximately October/November each year. Whilst these are not the only stage-based performance opportunities through the year, they are affectionately considered 'our big ones' and weekly classes take consistent steps towards performance at these events. Students therefore commence in Term 1 and commit attendance until South Coast qualifiers and/or Teams.
At the end of the year, Queans Physie & Dance will offer a celebratory performance opportunity and presentation day for the entire club, encouraging family and friends to attend, thus ensuring all girls finish on a high! ♡
ANNUAL QPD CLUB REGISTRATION
This registration fee contributes to annual club-associated expenses such as APDA administration costs, PCYC registrations, insurance, and music licensing fees. It is non-refundable, negotiable or transferable.
ANNUAL APDA REGISTRATION & MEMBERSHIP
This amount must be paid directly to APDA upon completion of the Annual APDA Registration & Membership form. The Australian Physie & Dance Association is our head association, and each member is required to pay the annual registration fee. This fee is set by APDA and covers the cost of APDA producing the annual syllabus, and administration of APDA and includes a downloadable copy of the official APDA Syllabus Training video and music per family. It is non-refundable, negotiable or transferable.
COMPETITION ENTRY
We are lucky to offer such an affordable dance option to our community. Even our competition entry fees are kept at a minimum!
Interclubs in July-August range from approx. $15-$20, per entry. Individual National Competitions are approx. $35 as a one-off fee. These are all local or in Sydney in 2024, allowing for a day trip and are a fantastic club day out.
COSTUMES
A single APDA branded, performance quality leotard, ordered in approx. March/April will see you through it all! #nosewing!
A club jacket will need to be purchased for public & competition representation as well. Details of these are to come soon.
At this stage, our club goal is to fundraise for the purchase of APDA team performance leotards to ensure we keep overall costs at a minimum, but we can't do it alone. Please let us know if you would like to get involved, make new friends and assist in these background processes. We would love to hear from you, especially the dance dads or mums, sisters, brothers, and friends.. who can cook a mean sausage and have a bit of a fun social day out with the other Dancing Queans! Or the mums and aunties, etc. who would love to coordinate a little job here and there with the Queans Teaching team.
Queans is very much a 'bring your dance family & friends together' club. ♡
At Queans, our dance program goes beyond regular end-of-term class performances and includes actively participating in the annual APDA (Australian Physie and Dance Association) competition circuit. This schedule includes smaller "club meets", held both locally and in Sydney in 2024, throughout July and August, as well as team and group competitions around October and November. For members desiring an individual national performance experience, APDA provides opportunities in October and November on larger stages, affectionately considered 'the big ones', allowing dancers to connect with Physie & Dance friends from all corners of the country.
At Queans Physie & Dance, we acknowledge the diversity of philosophies surrounding competitions. From those who relish the chance to dress up and enjoy the thrill of makeup, hair, and the stage with friends, to those striving for measured goals and achievements, we embrace and support all approaches!
Our Queans club culture emphasizes that competitions contribute to the development of crucial life skills such as reasonable goal-setting, discipline, commitment, completion, increased physical health, strength, and professional presentation. The overarching purpose; is to provide age-appropriate goals for growth and dance-skill development. Recognizing that some members may have the drive for home practice while others may not, we respect these differences based on individual reasons and priorities.
Through inclusivity and the wealth of experience within our teaching team, Queans Physie & Dance supports all healthy approaches to competition. Our united goal as a teaching team is to encourage improvement and offer perspective, tailored to each individual's journey.
From the very first week, thoughtful feedback is provided, empowering individuals to choose how to respond and contributing to a supportive environment where we dance together in celebration of personal growth. ♡

We experienced APDA girls know all too well, how lucky we are that Physie & Dance is a fantastic lifelong sport, and it is something you can start at 5, leave at 15 and return to at 25, 35 or even 45! It is for this reason that we develop such significant lifelong friendships within our community.
Key values at Queans Physie & Dance, include kindness, respect towards peers, teachers and other clubs, friendship first and above all else. Therefore, if you joined us directly from an existing APDA club in the previous year, anywhere in Australia, we kindly request you be courteous and inform your previous club before commencing with APDA Queans.
Thank you for understanding. ♡
